MyFriendBen, a One-Stop Benefits Screener Tool for North Carolinians
When you’re looking for stability, you deserve to have a trusted friend by your side.
MyFriendBen is dedicated to empowering individuals and organizations by making it easy to understand and access government benefits, tax credits and nonprofit programs.
Every year more than $80 billion in food, health care, and other assistance goes untapped nationally. This problem is particularly acute in North Carolina where rural, Black, Latine and immigrant communities are disproportionately under-enrolled.
Code the Dream has started developing a North Carolina benefits screener to maximize access to and enrollment in programs that support the health of low-income individuals and families.
The mobile-friendly platform is designed for direct use by individuals with low incomes, as well as community-based organizations on the front line of this work. An initial prototype will be available for community testing in a closed pilot program by the fall of 2024, with release for public use in early 2025.
If you are an organization focused on economic mobility, health, housing, justice, or technology, contact us at ricky@codethedream.org to learn more and find out how you can share feedback as the project moves forward.
